Evesham came back from 2-0 deficit to grab a point from play-off hopefuls Banbury United at the Jubilee Stadium in front of the biggest crowd of the season.

Evesham had a strong wind behind them and started the better with a 30-yard free kick from Nick Stanley going close and Adam Mann went almost scored from a Clayton Green cross. Banbury came back in the game and a George Nash effort was well saved by Kevin Sawyer.

The home side had the better of the last quarter with Mann going close and a Dovey cross proving dangerous. However, a minute into stoppage time and a poor clearance out of defence by Evesham saw Banbury take the lead through White who fired the ball across Sawyer from a narrow angle, and into the back of the net.

Banbury started brightly in the second half and they went 2-0 up in the 52nd minute when Browne down the left crossed low into the centre where Johnson slotted home from close range.  Sawyer them made great saves to deny McEachran and Nash.

In the 73rd minute Evesham were back in the game when the ball fell to substitute Jared Wilson 15 yards out inside the penalty area down the left and he hit a superb drive across the goal with the ball hitting the inside of the far post before nestling into the back of the net.

Banbury then hit the post and Johnson missed a one on one with Sawyer.

In the 85th minute Evesham equalised when a cross came in from the left and the Banbury stopper came for the ball but only succeeded in palming it out as far as Lance Smith who knocked the ball home from around eight yards out.

Evesham now up to eighth in the table.
