Evesham lost by the solitary goal to Didcot Town yesterday on a heavy pitch at the Jubilee Stadium.

The best chance for the home side came in the first minute when a Lewis Binns cross from the left found Lance Smith at the far post whose downward header bounced down but over the bar from only six yards out.  Another Binns cross two minutes later went invitingly across the box but no Evesham player was there to turn the ball in.  The rest of the half was devoid of chances with defences on top.

The game changed in a three minute spell early in the second half.  Lance Smith was sent off for a second yellow card and then Graham Edney’s super strike from over 25 yards into the top right corner put the visitors ahead.

Despite being down to ten men Evesham continued to press but failed to test the Didcot goalkeeper Leigh Bedwell.   It was only the second defeat in 13 league games for the home side who remain in 8th place.
