Evesham started the season in disappointing fashion with a 1-0 home defeat against Yate Town.  The visitors who finished 6th in the league last year won with a goal in the 77th minute through substitute George Box.

Evesham had the better possession in the opening period, before Yate increasingly became  threat.  The best chance for the home side was in the 42nd minute when Carl Brown’s shot went straight at the keeper.

In the 74th minute a Matt Sysum shot was saved by the trailing leg of the goalkeeper Martin Horsell. It was three minutes later when Yate grabbed the winner in a game when the draw would have been a fair result on the balance of play.
