Evesham secured an excellent victory in the FA Trophy against local rivals Southern Premier Redditch United at the Jubilee Stadium yesterday.

The first half saw an even game with play confined to midfield and with defences on top.  Both goalkeepers had little to do.

After the break, Evesham’ Kevin Sawyer made a super save from Redditch striker Daniel Dubidat, but that was the closest the visitors came to scoring.

The home side then dominated proceedings with the only goal coming with 20 minutes left.  A Sean Wood corner was not properly cleared by the Redditch defence and it fell to Nick Stanley whose unstoppable shot from the edge of the box gave Evesham the lead.

The Redditch onslaught did not materialise and although six minutes of time was added, Evesham comfortably got the victory to progress to the Second Qualifying Round.
