In front of the biggest crowd of the season at the Jubilee of exactly 400, Evesham managed to secure victory in the “Colly” derby with two goals in the last 12 minutes.

The first half was devoid of clear cut chances, with ex Evesham player Elliot Kennedy going close for the visitors and a Jack Horrell free kick easily saved by Kevin Sawyer.  For the hosts, Linden Dovey and Karnell Chambers had opportunities, but the best chance came in the 37th minute when Ashley Williams found space in the box but he screwed his shot wide.

The game came to life with 20 minutes left when first Horrell of Bishop’s Cleeve and then substitute Carl Brown set up by Adam Mann both missed golden chances.

Evesham finally found the breakthrough taking the lead with 12 minutes remaining when Ashley Williams latched on to a punch away by the goalkeeper Sam Gilder, following a Nick Stanley corner and he blasted the ball into the back of the net.

Evesham doubled their lead with six minutes left when Dovey was allowed to jink past the defence and score with a shot off the left post for his first goal of the season.

It was a match Evesham deserved to win, but for three-quarters of the game the visitors were well in it. It was the seventh victory in eight games for the Robins remaining in 6th place with still an outside chance of making the play-offs
