Evesham stretched their unbeaten record to eight matches with a tremendous 3-0 victory over league leaders Cinderford Town. The Foresters arrived at the Jubilee Stadium having lost only once this season, but could not cope with Evesham’s work rate and the windy conditions. The hosts were without the injured Linden Dovey and the suspended Ashley Williams. Cinderford’s starting eleven contained four Evesham old boys.
Evesham took the lead on the quarter hour when Liam Harding’s cross found Adam Mann whose header looped over Cinderford stopper Alex Harris and into the net, helped by the strong wind which held the ball up.
In the 33rd minute it was two. A Clayton Green pass found Lance Smith whose super finish from just inside the box into the bottom right corner gave Evesham breathing space.
The second half continued to be spoilt by the strong wind straight down the ground. However it was Evesham who were the likeliest to score the next goal and they did on 66 minutes when Nathan Modest in his first start finished well with a fine shot into the bottom left corner of the Cinderford net.
An excellent five-star performance against a strong side who did not create any clear cut chances. Evesham are now up to eighth in the table, five points outside the play-offs, with exactly half the season gone. Next match is a trip to sixth-placed Swindon Supermarine on Tuesday evening.
