Evesham made the long trip to Southampton today and came away with their second 1-0 victory against hosts Sholing FC this season.
Sholing goalkeeper Matt Brown was in inspired form making a string of fine saves to deny the visitors more than the one goal that did beat him. The only goal of the game came on the stroke of half time when George Washbourne made the most of a defensive error scoring with a shot from the left into the top corner.
Evesham dominated the match in terms of chances and came closest to a second when a Sean Wood shot hit the post on the hour.
Evesham remain in third place and are now 8 points clear of 6th place. It is now 13 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat in the last 16 matches. The best run in years. With 12 games to play a play-off berth is in our hands.
