New signing Jake Sloggett will be in Evesham United’s squad to face Taunton Town at home on Saturday writes the Gloucestershire Echo.

The winger was on Bristol City’s books as a youngster before spells with Paulton Rovers and Bath City.

He has started studying at the University of Gloucestershire and was given a chance to impress in Tuesday’s Red Insure Cup tie against Bedworth, which Evesham lost 2-1.

Boss Paul Collicutt was impressed with what he saw and is looking forward to seeing more from the teenager.

“Jake was recommended to me by Adie Britton and Archie Howells at Bath as he’s from that area and they spoke highly of him,” Collicutt said.
“He is at the University of Gloucestershire and I was pleasantly surprised by his performance against Bedworth and in training. He’ll definitely be in the squad.”

Collicutt made several changes for the cup tie, giving Kevin Slack and Carl Brown starts and also reintroducing Lewis Binns after a long term injury.

Matt Sysum serves a one match ban and will miss out on Saturday.

“I expect Taunton to be right up there all season,” Collicutt said.”It’s going to be a difficult game and they have a lad, Jordan Rogers, who scores a lot of goals.”I can’t fault the lads’ efforts against Bedworth, but winning is the name of the game on Saturday because we need three points at home to be up there in with a shout of promotion.”
