Evesham United must take six points from their two Easter weekend fixtures to keep their outside play-off chances alive, says boss Paul Collicutt in the Gloucestershire Echo.

They visit lowly Bridgwater Town on Saturday before hosting neighbours Bishop’s Cleeve on Monday afternoon.

Last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at leaders Cinderford Town left Paul Collicutt’s side eight points outside the top five.

“We have seven games left and after the end of Monday we’ll have a pretty good idea of how things are going to map out for us this season,” Collicutt said.

“There are sure to be one or two upsets this weekend and we will see who comes out of it well, but we are setting the target of six points.

“We aren’t under real pressure because not many people will give us a chance of doing anything now, but you don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Central defender Lindon Dovey was sent off against Cinderford, but his one game ban does not kick in until next Saturday’s match against Mangotsfield United.

Jared Wilson is out due to work commitments, while Carl Brown, Nick Stanley and Jake Sloggett have all been struggling with a virus, but Collicutt hopes they will all be in contention.

“We have had a bug going around and I’ve had it myself, but we’ll have a roll call at training,” he said.

“Karnell Chambers wasn’t in the squad against Cinderford, but he’s back for these two games.

“Bridgwater are a young, enthusiastic and hard-working side and the pitch isn’t meant to be the best.

“The weather forecast is also not looking good for Saturday, so we know we can’t take anything for granted against them.”

Collicutt will then take on his former club Cleeve at the Jubilee Stadium, with the return match taking place at Kayte Lane on Tuesday, April 12.
