Evesham United boss Paul Collicutt hopes his old club Bishop’s Cleeve can do them a favour on Saturday.

Cleeve host Winchester City, one of three teams Evesham are hoping to catch to claw their way into the play-offs in the remaining fortnight of the season.

Collicutt’s side travel to bottom but one Burnham on a run of eight wins from their last nine games, keeping themselves in with an outside chance of a second successive play-off appearance. They then visit Cleeve next Tuesday night.

Only a goal-shy start to the season has left them playing catch-up, but with Adam Mann hitting form they are now the fourth highest scorers in the division.

“There are three teams we can catch, Taunton, Swindon Supermarine and Winchester and I know Cleeve will make it hard for Winchester at Kayte Lane, where they have only lost three times all season,” Collicutt said.

“All of them have tough games, but so do we because Burnham are fighting for their lives and they won’t want to go down this season.

“They beat Totton last week, which shows what they can do, but all we can be is positive and keep the pressure on.

“The picture will be a lot clearer at 4.50pm on Saturday, but I am sure there will be more twists and turns.”

Lewis Binns (thigh) is out for Evesham, but goalkeeper Kevin Sawyer and defender Linden Dovey both return along with Nick Stanley.

Striker Lance Smith is likely to miss the rest of the season through injury.

“The next two are make or break for us and we need other teams to drop points, but we have to make sure we keep our side of the bargain,” Collicutt said.
