Boss Paul Collicutt has described Evesham United’s visit to leaders Cinderford Town tomorrow (3pm) as an occasion to savour according to the Gloucestershire Echo.

Evesham arrive at the Causeway on a run of five straight victories and with a 3-0 win over Cinderford already under their belts this season.

But John Brough’s Foresters are unbeaten at home this term, so something has to give.

“The title is Cinderford’s to lose now,” Collicutt said.

“If they carry on as they have been, it’ll be in the bag.

“When we played them at home in December, the game was played in awful conditions and we adapted to them better on the day, but I am definitely not blinded by that result.

“There are not many teams in the country unbeaten at home, but Cinderford are one of them so it’s going to be an intriguing game.”

Sean Wood returns from suspension for Evesham, but Collicutt is waiting on several of his squad who have been struggling with a sickness bug this week.

Former Evesham pair Lee Smith and Ethan Moore will both be in the Cinderford side, while Collicutt once signing Brough as a player during his time in charge of Bishop’s Cleeve.

“Cinderford are obviously the most consistent team in the league,” Collicutt said.

“Ethan has played his best football when he’s been with Gerry Oldham (Cinderford assistant manager) and with Broughy, Mark Lockwood, Allan Gough and Gerry they have a strong staff and they’ve done very well.

“We have been to Taunton, Tiverton and Swindon Supermarine and got results, so we have done well against some of the stronger sides and we need a result again this time.”

Sixth-placed Evesham go into the game five points outside the play-off places and the team directly above them – Taunton – have two games in hand.

“We know there are going to be some dodgy results between now and the end of the season as nerves creep in, so we have to be ready to pounce when teams slip up,” Collicutt said.

“The lads know what is expected of them and we are looking forward to it.”

With no midweek game, Evesham trained on Monday to avoid problems with race traffic.

Meanwhile, Cinderford visited Gloucestershire rivals Slimbridge on Wednesday night and goals from Nick Rhodes and George Lloyd sealed a 2-0 win to take them back to the summit.

Cinderford welcome back Hartpury College trio Elliott Keightley, Sammie Hicks and Ryan Shaw, while James Fawke (ankle) is also fit after missing the match at Wisloe Road.

The Foresters have three Cheltenham Town youngsters in their ranks: Niall Rowe, Sam Mendes and Lewis Thompson, while Evesham have Karnell Chambers.
