Following the very first league meeting, its been announced that the Worcestershire Veterans League will kick off with a pilot summer league starting first week of May 2014. With 10 teams confirmed including sides from Kidderminster, Worcester & Stourport the league promises to be a good test for the newly formed Evesham United team.

The league format will be on a fortnightly basis with all games being played at central venues including Pershore and Worcester Uni, all 3G pitches, all midweek, which is ideal for players with other commitments, families and work, etc. Games will be 80 minutes and include roll on-roll off substitutions, again suiting the veteran footballer.

The biggest issue was surrounding the eligible age as various county leagues are run on different basis. It was proposed that the pilot league would be on an Over 35 basis, however with all sides allowed to play a set number of younger players, subject to agreement by both sides.

Following this news, the Evesham side are looking forward to the start of the season and are continuing to train every Friday at the High School, 7- 8.30 pm with a number of friendly matches lined up between now and May. ‘’New faces are turning up every week and we welcome anyone who fancies it.’’
